Adventure
One of the best ways to appreciate the amazing scenery along the west coast is to get out and experience it.
Surfing has grown to be an extremely popular sport in Mayo. The ragged shoreline means there are a variety of beaches, almost always guaranteeing good swell with Carrowniskey being the most popular surf beach in the area.
Gaelforce Adventure Festival 31st August to 2nd September 2007 is a weekend celebrating Adventure, all are welcome to experience what’s on offer at Westport House (Midday-6pm daily). Sports Zone, Kids Zone, Food Village and extreme experiences including skydiving & bungee jumps. Two adventure races run over the weekend where novice & experienced racers run/cycle/climb/kayak over rugged terrain, places still available.
There are also several adventure centres in the local area for those who want to try something different specialising in everything from water sports to team-building activities.
