During the summer months the daily ferry service between Roonagh and ClareIsland is supported with extra crossings. However, until now, for tourists who were travelling without their own car, it was no small matter to make their way from Westport, Louisburgh or elsewhere to the edge of the mainland from where we depart.
Happily, there is now a solution to this, and we are thrilled to announce a brand new shuttle bus service, being operated by Clare Island Ferry Company, between Westport and Roonagh. It will run five days a week – Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday – throughout the months of July and August.
The point of departure is Westport Adventure Hub (pictured) on James Street, where bus and ferry tickets may be purchased together. Departing Westport at 10.15am, and Roonagh at 5.15pm. The return fare is €10 for adults and €5 for children.
Alternatively, if you’ll still be making your own way to Roonagh, you can now book your tickets online in advance – and receive a discount while guaranteeing you don’t arrive to find the ferry is full!
So, if you’re looking for a more sustainable way to travel while seeking adventure on our beautiful island, look no further! Your Clare Island adventure awaits…
