Mayo Dark Sky Festival 2019

In 2016, Mayo’s Ballycroy/Wild Nephin National Park became Ireland’s first Gold Tier International Dark Sky Park was recognised by the International Dark Sky Association. A Gold Tier classification is an honour reserved for the most exceptional of dark skies and breathtaking nightscapes.
The annual Mayo Dark Sky Festival has been set up in honour of this glittering accolade.
Taking place in Newport, Mulranny and Ballycroy from November 1-3, this year’s festival will include a galaxy of talks, walks, exhibitions, workshops and stargazing, and a host of family friendly events. There’ll be something for everyone, from professional scientists to amateur astronomers, from young inquisitive minds to more-mature star gazers.
