Swift Talk and Walk
July 23 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 pm
Swift expert Lynda Huxley will give a free talk and guided walk on ‘The Amazing Swift’ at Westport Town Hall on Saturday, June 23, at 10 am. Get an insight into the astonishing life of these endangered little birds, annual visitors to Ireland, and learn about what we can do to help ensure they don’t disappear from our shores.
Swifts, which arrive in Mayo in April and leave for Africa in August, live their whole lives on the wing, stopping only to nest and to rear their young. They eat, drink, preen, mate and even sleep while flying. Plucky little souls, worth saving.
The talk is being held as part of Swift Awareness Week, in association with Swift Conservation Ireland.
