Enchanted evenings of family theatre on the lawn of Westport House

Enjoy a choice of two enchanted evenings of outdoor entertainment on the front lawn of Westport House.

In A Midsummer Night’s Dream on August 9, the audience will find themselves on that most dangerous of nights when fairies are abroad and nothing is as it seems. They will watch four young, unsuspecting, lovers become entangled in their magical affray and soon no mortals are safe in those bewitched and bewitching woods outside Athens…

It is a fast paced, highly energetic and interlaced with live music. And of course, being one of Shakespeare’s best loved comedies, it’s rip-roaringly funny!

On August 13, The Tales of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny will tell the story of Peter Rabbit who knows very well that he is not to go into Mr McGregor’s garden, especially as it was there that his father met his untimely end and was put into a pie! But Peter cannot resist, and after several nasty scrapes Peter finally escapes home to a severe telling-off from his mother and early to bed.

Using live music, the production promises a magical evening for young and old alike taking them back to the tales of their childhood in a show designed to appeal to all the family. A unique production in a unique setting.

Both shows are sure to delight both young and old.

Tickets are priced at €10 for adults and €6 for children – annual members of Westport House will get 10% discount on these prices. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Ticket Office in Westport House or on the evening of the show.

Gates open at 6:15pm and the show start at 7:00pm. Refreshments will be available and please bring along a picnic blanket or fold up chair as the event takes place on the lawn. More information on the Westport House website
