Hotel Westport wins award for excellence in accommodation

4* Hotel Westport Achieves IASI Award for Excellence

The 4* Hotel Westport has just received an award for excellence from the Irish Accommodation Services Institute for achieving exceptional standards across a broad range of accommodation services including, servicing of guest bedrooms, washrooms and public areas.

All applicants are independently assessed and only those who achieve the standard as set out by the IASI receive the prestigious award.

Minister for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring presented the awards and praised all recipients stating, “It is fantastic to see hotels truly committed to providing excellence in standards for their guests, especially in these recessionary times”. Minister Ring also said he believed the motto of the IASI, ‘Tough times don’t last, tough people do’, was a very true representation of the Accommodation Departments in the Hotels which received the awards.

IASI Award Hotel Westport The IASI is a national body, which represents the professional interests of the Accommodation sector, being very active in promoting Best Practice Standards of excellence and providing a forum for all Accommodation Managers to network and meet.

Ines Guerra, President of the IASI commented, “During the last couple of years Accommodation Managers have been very busy reinventing themselves in an effort to get through these perilous economic times, they have improved and adjusted themselves time and again, achieving excellent service standards in an industry that becomes more demanding by the day”

Commenting on the award Accommodation Supervisor, Madeleine Dermody said, “We are very proud to be the only hotel in Westport to achieve this award. It is a true testament to the dedication, commitment and hard work of the Accommodation team here at Hotel Westport and this is only achieved through continuos training, support and encouragement as a daily routine. The award is a lovely recognition for the wonderful work the staff do.”

The Hotel has also recently received other National Awards including the CIE International Tours Award of Excellence, The Primary Times Top 10 Family Hotels and the much coveted AA Rosette for Culinary Excellence. All these awards are due to the continued hard work of Management and Staff through All Departments to providing excellence in service, attention to detail and commitment to ever-changing customer expectations.
