Calling all traditional music lovers! Westport has secured the coveted title of host town for the 2023 Mayo Fleadh Cheoil and we couldn't be more excited! Prepare for a week-long programme of fun-filled events, kicking off from May 10th to 14th 2023.

Over 600 competitors in traditional Irish music are expected to descend upon the town for the festival with free gigs played on the streets, pubs and theatres around town. And it's not just about the music, expect to see set-dancing, sean-nós dancing, traditional singing, the Irish language, poetry, local place names, maritime heritage and our Westport's very own local artists all featuring in the programme of events.

Get ready to embrace the craic, the music, and the culture for this special music festival.

Mayo Fleadh Cheoil concert at Westport Town Hall on May 12

Some of Ireland’s most celebrated and renowned traditional musicians, singers and dancers, including Matt and Peter Molloy, Cora and Breda Smyth, All-Ireland champion singers Pearse Larkin and Aistrid Ní Mhongáin, Emer Mayock, Éadaoin Ní Mhaicín, Sal Heneghan and David Munnelly will all be performing at the 2023 Mayo Fleadh Cheoil concert on Friday, May 12th at Westport Town Hall.

Monday, May 8: Traditional music session and talk

Tús maith leath na hoibre / A good start is half the battle and on Monday evening, May 8th at the Clew Bay Hotel the opening trad sesssion of the 2023 Mayo Fleadh Cheoil will certainly have pulses racing. Pop along at 9pm for some great reels, jigs and plenty of craic. Free Entry.

Monday, May 8: Mayo Fleadh Art Exhibition

Renowned Westport artist Noreen Sadler will officially open her Mayo Fleadh Cheoil Art Exhibition at the Clew Bay Hotel on Monday, May 8th at 8 pm. Noreen's work is highly regarded and this special exhibition entitled 'Le Chéile' (Together) follows the theme of ceol, community and conversation. (Ceol, Comhluadar agus Comhrá) Noreen has a large collection of original acrylic paintings in her Art Gallery 'ANSEO' on the Castlebar Road. She is always happy to talk about her work and what inspires her, from Leonardo to Picasso with Yeats, Paul Henry and Jellet in between. Her theory is that everybody can paint and this special exhibition during the Mayo Fleadh Cheoil will hopefully inspire another generation of artists. The Exhibition is open from 9:00am - 9:00pm at the Clew Bay Hotel from May 8th to the end of the Month. Everyone is welcome to walk in and browse the painting which are on display behind the Hotel reception area. Free Entry.
