The Magic Parlour at Hotel Westport mystery solved

The Magic Parlour at Hotel Westport mystery solved

After researching the expectations of tourists and locals alike, Hotel Westport realized that storytelling and mystery are two missing ingredients often sought by tourists visiting Ireland. After all, what is the West of Ireland famous for? In partnership with magician and storyteller, Dan O’Donoghue, they’ve answered this entertainment question with a show called The Magic Parlour at Hotel Westport.

Sunday last at the launch night, Minister Michael Ring officially welcomed guests to “Step into the Parlour” with a spirited introduction. The evening was enjoyed by Cathaoirleach Christy Hyland, invited guests and members of the local tourism community.

“It’s a live dinner-show,” says Dan, “set in a homely Parlour and featuring a bewitching blend of Mayo Folklore, Magic, Las Vegas card tricks and Storytelling, all to the accompaniment of a 4-course AA Rosette Award Winning Dinner.”

When you take your first step into The Magic Parlour you discover an intimate setting awaits, where great dining, stories and magic are blended into an exciting evening of unique theatre.

“Hotel Westport is the perfect venue for The Magic Parlour,” says Dan, “because all the staff are so passionate about creating the right sense of welcome, charm and entertainment that will appeal to both the domestic and foreign guests.”

It’s dinner theatre with a twist … It breaks the common format, it’s a theatrical performance that ends at coffee time with Dan treating each table to a customized mini-show of mystery and unforgettable tricks.

The Magic Parlour is the only show of its kind in Ireland. “There are many storytellers and there are many magicians but Dan’s unique skill set encompasses both accompanied by award winning food” says Declan Heneghan, General Manager at Hotel Westport. “My magic is not about fooling people, it’s about charming them with little moments of theatre and audience participation,” Dan says, “After six years working as a close up magician Las Vegas casinos, I found people still want us Irish to tell a story, we’re natural storytellers and I try to make my stories unique by interweaving magic with them.”

This show ideal for couples, a group of family or friends, entertaining clients or indeed a perfect gift for someone who would like to do something different and exciting… group bookings available & alternative dates for private parties are available on request.

The show is on every Sunday night from June – September 30. The show starts every Sunday at 6.45pm for approx 2.5hrs.

The Magic Parlour Dinner and Show is €39 per adult and Hotel Westport also has a special family price for 2 adults and 2 teenagers of €99.
