Get to Know Westport !

Westport has just launched a team of ACTIVITY AMBASSADORS, the first of its kind in Ireland designed to encourage and enable visitors and locals alike to experience the rich heritage and natural beauty that this town has to offer.

The initiative has been developed by Westport Town Council in partnership with Westport Tourism Organisation and Mayo Sports Partnership, with the aim of positively contributing to activity tourism and increase physical activity in the community.

Tours of Westport will be held daily with looped town walks and the ‘Westport in a Jiffy’ tour is designed to help tourists new to the area make the most of their time in Westport.

The Ambassadors have just completed a five week training course which included walk and trail leading, cycle guiding. History and Heritage, Care for the environment and sustainable tourism, Customer care, Communications and Social Media, Occupational First Aid, Child Protection, Event Planning

WESTPORT ACTIVITY AMBASSADORS are very enthusiastic people who will be very visible on the streets in their lime green jackets interacting with visitors and encouraging them to part-take in some of the many and varied activities the area has to offer.

They will also provide valuable and focused information and develop complimentary programs with the aim of improving and extending visitor stay.
