Westport House has a new addition to it’s array of activities and experiences on site; The Birds of Prey Centre, located in the courtyard outside the main reception.
“We are very excited to partner with Westport House for the upcoming season. Falconry is a truly special experience, particularly in this stunning setting. It is a very interactive display, with us flying the birds throughout the courtyard, demonstrating just how spectacular these majestic creatures are as they swoop and soar through the sky with astonishing speed and agility, while ulitmately landing as light as a feather.” said Jason Deasy, Master Falconer at Westport House.
With two main Birds of Prey activities available at Westport House, including the the daily Birds of Prey Show or a personal one on one Halk Walk, there is no excuse not to experience first hand what the oldest known sport in Ireland has to offer.
Birds of Prey Show
Our guide will have the whole family enthralled as these stunning birds soar through the sky landing just feet away. Learn about how these birds survive – where they live, what do they eat and much more. Our guides are fountains of knowledge when it comes to their beautiful birds.
Show will take place each day at 4pm in the courtyard
For an even more interactive experience we have our new hawk walks. Walk through Westport House’s woodland trails with the hawk periodically flying down to land on a gloved hand. Group sizes can vary from 1 to 30 people.
A very unique, exciting experience and perfect for corporate groups, hens, school tours, tour groups or just as amazing way to spend a walk.
All hawk walks must be pre – booked in advance by calling +353 98 27766
