At the Restaurant Association of Ireland Awards, La Fougére won the highly coveted national title of ‘Best Hotel Restaurant in Ireland 2010’, it was awarded ‘Best Restaurant in Connaught 2011 at the FOOD&WINE Awards, and was most recently recognised at the 2011 Hotel & Catering Review Awards where it scooped the national title of ’Best Fine Dining Restaurant in Ireland 2011’.
At the helm of La Fougére is Head Chef Seamus Commons who is delivering the finest in gourmet gastronomy time and time again and was awarded ‘Best Chef in Connaught 2010’ he also maintained this same title at the 2011 FOOD & WINE Awards. Seamus has been personally commended for his outstanding talent, and has been described by John McKenna, author of the 2011 Bridgestone Irish Food Guide & the 100 Best Restaurants Guide as “one of the great chefs of his generation”. Appearing in this year’s Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2012 and both the Bridgestone 100 Best Places to Stay 2012 and the annual Bridgestone 100 Best Restaurants Guide 2012 with glowing tributes paid to the hotel and the wonderful chef, Seamus Commons, Knockranny House hotel is, as the Bridgestone Guide says, “firing on all cylinders”!
Cooking alongside Seamus is his Demi Chef de Partie– Kamil Dubanik who was awarded the prestigious accolade of ‘Euro-toques Young Chef of the Year 2012’ following Chef de Partie Mary Ryan’s win in 2011 of the same title.
Using the very best in local, seasonal produce Seamus and his team create truly inspired dishes with a range of menus available including an 8 course Tasting Menu. Menus change daily depending on in-season produce sourced as locally to Westport and the surrounding areas as possible.
