The Sea2Summit Race is on for Crumlin’s Children’s Hospital

Westport Sea2Summit– the country’s fastest growing Adventure Race – has announced Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin as its official charity partner for the 2012 event, taking place on Saturday, November 3. Organisers of the race, Westport Plaza & Castlecourt Hotel Resort have already pledged €5,000 towards the charity.

Help us double or even treble this amount by picking up a sponsorship card and taking part for Crumlin.  Irelands “littlest hearts” need YOUR HELP!

Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin is Ireland’s largest paediatric hospital and is responsible nationally for the provision of the majority of tertiary care services for children. It is the national centre in Ireland for a range of specialities including children’s childhood cancers and blood disorders, cardiac diseases, major burns, cystic fibrosis and rheumatology.

The reason Westport Sea2Summit have chosen Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin as its charity partner is because the event organisers have seen first-hand the remarkable and life-saving work the hospital provides.

“Two of our staff members of the Westport Plaza & Castlecourt Hotel Resort have unfortunately had to use the services of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin as their children have required care for serious heart conditions. Both mothers – Julie McNamara and Sinead Conway, have praised the care and medical attention as second to none and this is our way to say thank you and help continue the provision of these services. Our aim is to raise as much monies as possible through race entry and additional fundraising to support the vital healthcare services” says Ciara Joyce, member of the organisation committee for the Westport Sea2Summit Adventure Race.

Voted 4th Best Adventure Race in Ireland 2011, the Westport Sea2Summit Adventure Race pushes participant’s limits to the extreme with a mix of road running, cycling and mountain hiking with a choice of two race options – Spirit (27.5km) or Supreme (56.5km). The race is on for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.
