Leo Richardson is widely recognised to be one of London’s leading Jazz Tenor Saxophonists. He is best known for his honest, straight-ahead, contemporary hard-bop style and regularly hosts the Late Late Show at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club with his own quartet. His most significant influences include John Coltrane, Joe Henderson, Dexter Gordon, Horace Silver and Art Blakey.
"The energy of it is quite ferocious at times, but all under control and technically perfect."- Dave Gelly ***** The Guardian
“I can’t remember hearing a more impressive debut.
The style is hard bop, but music as good as this is beyond category." Dave Gelly, The Observer 5*
Joining Leo are internationally acclaimed musicians and some Westport Jazz regulars:
Rick Simpson, piano – Ronnie Scott’s regular, Yamaha Scholarship winner, and performer at venues including the Royal Festival Hall and the Purcell Room.
Dave Redmond, double bass – celebrated for collaborations with artists such as Larry Coryell, Seamus Blake, Dave Liebman, and Van Morrison.
Darren Beckett, drums – in demand worldwide, performing from the Albert Hall to Carnegie Hall with Lee Konitz, Sinead O’Connor, Lauryn Hill, and more.
